An ergonomic football shin-pad made out of 100% recycled HDPE and foam!
Partnering with Futbol Mas (setting up a plastic recycling workshop in Mathare) has inspired us to take a closer look at football in Kenya and the power it has to bring people together. Most of the kids in the program can not afford football shoes, let alone shin-pads, but this does not in any way stifle their grit, passion and energy on the field.
Using injection molding, material layering and thermoforming, the shin guards are designed to provide shock absorption and facilitate energy dissipation, thereby decreasing the risk of serious injuries. We have spent the last weeks testing them and are now looking at ways to make the production more efficient. Watch this space! #plastikirafiki #preciousplastic
