Over the last couple of months we have been working on designing and testing off-grid plastic recycling machines for a project in Northern Kenya.
We built a pedal powered plastic shredder using open source designs developed by Kunststoffschmiede and a Flexi Biogas powered plastic compressor, a modified version of the charcoal powered compressor we built last year. Designed by Plastiki Rafiki member Oliver Rudd and fabricated by Cookswell Energy Saving Jikos the compressor is powered entirely by kitchen scraps. We have been using both machines to create versatile recycled plastic sheets.
