We recently built a Biopress Machine using open source designs from Precious Plastic with the goal to create rigid and strong biodegradable materials using food waste that could replace single use plastics. Using simple cast aluminium molds we have been experimenting with coffee grounds, potato peels, orange skins, hyacinth leaves and many more materials and have had some successes and many more failures. But we will keep on trying – watch this exciting space – cleaning up the environment and recycling is important, but eliminating single use plastics all together is the ultimate goal!
