On Mach 2nd 175 nations endorsed a historic resolution at the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) in Nairobi to End Plastic Pollution and forge an international legally binding agreement by 2024. The resolution addresses the full lifecycle of plastic, including its production, design and disposal.
As part of this meeting there were several impressive art installations created out of ocean plastic, drawing attention to the problem of plastic pollution in our ocean. Once the event was over Plastiki Rafiki happily accepted the waste plastic, eager to turn it into unique keepsakes to commemorate this agreement that we hope will turn the tide on plastic waste. We are proud to be giving this plastic a second life.
The first products orders, using this collected beach plastic, went back to the Kenya Coast – to Diani and Lamu – which we think is even more symbolic!
