The 2023 Futbol Mas Kenya final league took place at the UN Recreation Center. All the participants were awarded 100% recycled plastic medals made from waste collected in Mathare. The medals were made by the youth leaders and parents at the Mathare Plastic Recycling Workshop we set up five years ago!
“Futbol Mas League is a special moment where children get to play against each other and the other schools in the program. The teams are formed based on the Futbol Mas ranking system which is a summation of attendance, Green cards received, child’s progress, and self-evaluation scores. The unique part about this approach is to have both boys and girls from each class play together, purely based on the progress they have had in the program and not how good they are in football!”
We are proud to support this workshop – to see it grow and flourish over the years – doing such great things for youth Mathare!
